Introducing the W8, an analytical lab WEIGHING SCALE for the quantitative assessment of SIZE, WEIGHT, AND MASS DENSITY of biological samples, from single cell suspensions to 3D spheroids and organoids!
The ability to obtain precise information on mass density, shape, size and weight of cells or cell aggregates, is crucial for several research applications, such as in cancer research, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. Although a couple of solutions may be available for single cell analysis, scientists still lack a reliable and reproducible method for physical cytometry in order to successfully standardize their 3D cell culture models.
With an intuitive user Interface and automated data analysis, the W8 technology offers a groundbreaking weighing method to perform quality control of 3D cell culture, as well as quantitative evaluation of in vitro assays from the physical point of view!
Sample Diameter: 50 - 500 µm
Raw Data: A spreadsheet file compatible with most statistical/graphing software.
Graphs: Automated graph generation and statistical analysis.
Thumbnails: Collect the bright-field image gallery for qualitative estimation of sample morphology.
The results of our fruitful collaboration with Professors Alessandro Poggi (IRCCS Policlinico San Martino, Genoa, Italy) and Mara Zocchi (IRCCS San Raffaele, Milan, Italy) have converged in our latest manuscript, now online in ‘Frontiers in Immunology’ journal.
The W8 cytometer draws the same conclusions that are gathered with confocal imaging and flow cytometry. However, instead of using complex and expensive methods, it performs a quantitative, physical characterization of 3D samples in just a few minutes, without the use of fluorescent labels.
